Garry Cormack, Australia I have had my BWM K100RS for six and a half years. I still love it and I'm sure it loves me.... I have always serviced, maintained and kept her clean. She used to be just another BMW but as she's getting older, she has become a real head turner. I live in Shellharbour which is about 50mls south of Sydney NSW Australia. I am about to embark on a facelift for my trusty K which will be new paint and polished rims. I may even shout her a new exhaust as I have welded the old one a few times (as I'm sure a few of us have done...).

Changes: Wheels, seat cover, exhaust, handlebar, front and rear lights, air filter, seat, fork springs, shock absorber and some minor parts. Karsten Giesow, Germany Don’t laugh, it really looks like this. No matter where I ride or park the bike, people look at it. In 2005 I bought it as a K 100 RS wreck and modified it as a K 100 RT little by little. Since October, 2005, she´s on the european road again. Mainly Northwest Germany, on holidays I prefer Danmark. The only features are panniers, Radio/Cassette and a helmet intercom.. Even at 110mph it is possible to hear the radio. Some day I´ll buy heated gloves and a navigation system.

Rolf Carl Nimmrichter, Switzerland I noticed the K1 the first time during the ‘90s when I started motorcycling. Since 1999 I am the proud owner of a ‘91 model, which was dark green but scratched. Now she´s finally what I wanted her to be: strictly original, but silver grey. I think the colour shows the advantage of the futuristic shape. Mileage 38,000.

Roberto Bevilacqua, Italy Without experience on motorbikes, but having this "growing-inside" passion since I was 14, in the last March I've decided to walk through the 40 years "door" , by making me a special present : a motorbike! So one day I have found, from a bikes-experienced pensioner, this nice looking K75 RT, kept as new, built in 10/1992, but officially first registered in 6/1994. I'm very happy to have started my biker "career" with a BMW : I'm the 3rd owner, and I've travelled for around 4,200mls till now, from April 1st. 2006, when I got it, to its current 26,200. I think we'll stay together for a long time, but even if one day I'll want or have to change it, I believe to look for another BMW... the "fever" has caught me!

Alan Toft, Hawaii / USA This is my 1989 K100RS ABS Special which I bought in 1991 with just 3000 km on the clock. It now has 66,000 km as of 2006. It is a Canadian bike but was picked up by the Canadian dealer in Germany and shipped over. Only changes have been a Corbin seat (wonderful!!) and the newer hard luggage acquired when another motorcycle behind me couldn’t match the braking power of the BMW! The original battery lasted until May 2006 and the best changes, apart from the seat, have been the switch to synthetic oil in the gearbox and a Progressive Suspension shock absorber on the back of the bike.

Patrick Bigand, France Here is my 1991 K1, 18,000mls on the odometer. I bought the bike on EBay last year and when it arrived I sold my other K1, a blue one I had bought in 93 and done about 31,000mls with. I always wanted a black one so regretfully as I could not keep two K1s I had to part with the blue one. The bike came with the full luggage set and heated grips. Since I got it, I have replaced the brake hoses, with a set of Galfer stainless steel hoses, and installed a Wilbers shock absorber. I just bought a set of Baumeister foot rest on EBay but I am still struggling with the installation, help welcome. I ride the bike in all weathers, and use it often to commute to work.

Andrea Cosenz, Italy My ‘93 K75 has done 58,000mls. Her name is ‘Carlotta’. I made many modifications: Brake disks, Gubellini’s shock absorber, K1100 final drive, Ohlins’s front fork springs and more.

Lars Erik Magnusson, Sweden I have a love for the K:s and this is my fifth. I thought of buying a R11x0GS but saw two australians discussing the K75GS modell. After that and some surfing I discovered that there were a French guy at the Paris Dakar. I took up the idea and transformed a K75 to K75GS. It runs excellent in winter conditions. Matteo Maj, Italy I’ve read about you request of pictures. I’ll send the ones I have about the 2 kappa I had, the first, a 100RS ’85 (above) and the second, a 100 RS 16V ABS’91, both red. The first went destroyed in august 04, when my leg returned ok I bought the second one! Photos are taken in the alps and in corse.

Paul Harrington, Australia I read your webpage on the flying brick site about you needing images from all over the world. Here is my 1983 K100, frame number 0000625 in outback South Australia. The only addition is an RS fairing. She has 37,000mls on the clock and is dearly loved. I call her my Bavarian Belle.

Greg Belanger, Canada Michael: Here is a picture of me taking delivery of my 1986 K75 C on May 6, 2005. The bike had only 16,000mls. The BMW dealer did a 10K service before they put the bike up for sale, so I put on a new set of Bridgestone BT 45’s and did 4,500mls last season. Not much really, but okay for a 61 year old fat guy, with many more km’s to follow in years to come.

Knuth, North Carolina While shopping for a used BMW "R" bike to replace my trusty old '79 GS750E I saw this beautiful machine glistening in the Southern California sun at the Orange County BMW Motorcycle dealer. I came back and purchased her on my credit card the very next day. That was in 1994 and the odometer showed about 7,500mls. She is a pearl white 1986 BMW K100RS Euro-spec version originally sold in Sydney, Australia. The story is that a young couple brought it over to tour California for their honeymoon. I've since dubbed her "Helga" and together we've travelled over 35,000mls touring and commuting on both coasts of the USA. I'll probably keep her forever.

Preston Juvenal, Texas / USA This is my project bike, a friend that sat up for 5+ years before coming back to life first as a naked bike, then with a K75C fairing and finally in LT form. An 85 engine with 20K now resides in the 87 frame. Extras include the Russell saddle, SS brake lines and EBC Pro-lite Rotors, Parabellum mount, with custom windshield, a used Koni shock is due next week. This bike runs and rides great and is rock steady at 100+ MPH with the bags. I can’t make myself sell it even though I also have a 94 K1100RS…more K’s are good!

Andreas Baier, Germany K 100 RS 16V at the Donau between Romania and Serbia. My second BMW. I once had an 8V, but it was lame. This 16V runs better but was still bourgeois. Nevertheless, for the Black Sea trip I needed something reliable. Although it has done 62,000mls befor and the roads does not deserve that name I had no mentionable problems. Only the rear shock absorber is bended. Conclusion: the K is a good horse, so I`ll keep her.
