About www. flyingbrick .de and the head beyond

The webpage www.bmwk100.de was published on October 15th, 2000 by Michael Riehl. My motive was, of course, the purchase of my own K100 RS. I never got in contact with the K100 during its time of manufacturing as it was much to expensive for me. As time went by, the bike was getting more interesting due to its rough construction and its easy maintenance. Some time later, I saved enough money to get my K100RS.
Soon I realized that there was not much published in the web about my bike, so I decided to write down the things I´ve learned about the K-series and create my first own website. Since May, 2001 I´ve added some informations about the K75. Due to this decision, the page was renamed
www. flyingbrick .de and from that moment it was partly available in english, too. The details about the K1100 and 1200 series were following until April, 2002. When I added the sidecar chapter, the whole ‘classic’ K series was included. I´m 42 years old, I live with my wife, two daughters and a dog near Hannover, Germany and I´m working at Hannover Airport Apron Control.

Some facts about the technical equipment
(for those who are interested in…)

This website is created with NetObjects Fusion 7.5 on a Windows XP PC. It is not so important to use a fast computer but you´ll take advantage of a big monitor that allows you to view at least 1024x768 pixel. NetObjects Fusion shows a “Property” windows each time you´ll click an object, so a better resolution leads to a larger viewable area of your website. In my case, a 19” monitor is perfect. A flat bed scanner and a digital camera , which are no luxury goods anymore, have been connected to the PC.
Meanwhile, the PC is connected to an ethernet network, so I´m able to work either with the PC or with my 17 inch-notebook.

In 2000, when www. flyingbrick .de was created, even 2 MB were enough space. Meanwhile I am using an virtual webserver with 100GB and a very professional environment, which is necessary for our advertisement market.  The guestbook and forum are hosted externally, so they don´t need any space.
