K1100 Alternator Simmering and bearings

  • Hello!
I have been calling all day different Bearings and seals distributors and searching for simmering for alternator drive. Catalogue says that it is 26x42x5,5/7. Yet I can't find it, there is 26x42x7. Is there anything spetial about that simmering like dry installation, double lip, etc. or it is a regular one.
And do you know the type of alternator bearings in K1100, afaik it is different then in K2V.

    Best regards,

  • I´d order the Simmerring from BMW

    afaik.:
No altenator spares from BMW (K1100 50AH )
I´d go to Bosch with that

Well that is an option. Yet the BMW part price is 50 pln, when local manufacture that specialise in seals and aeroplane hydraulics will charge 1/5 for custom made one :/

A trivial question: what is the direction of the alternator rotation in K, let say looking form aft of a motorcycle?

Is it a regular one? Yes, it is a regular seal. There is no double lip. It is dry installaiton but that is a result of its construction from a PTFE material. The one you've found should function. When I fixed the bearing in my intermediate housing that had failed, I found out from a local bearing supplier that both the bearing and the corresponding seal were bog-standard parts, available at any well stocked bearing supplier.

Type of alternator bearings? The bearing in the intermediate housing that supports the drive dog is a 6004-C3. The bearings inside the 50A alternator used on the K1100 and K1004V are:
    Rear-small: 6203 RS or 6203 2RS (rubber seal) 17mm ID x 40mm OD x 12mm W
    Front-large: 6303 RS or 6303 2RS (rubber seal) 17mm ID x 47mm OD x 14mm W

Counter clockwise, as viewed from the rear of the motorcycle looking forward.
