K11LT Higher Windscreen and motor

  • Hi

    I'm Sven-Erik Tiberg living in the northest part of sweden and riding a K1100LT/SE since 5 years.
    Normally I use to take a anual tour to the alps ( 7-8000km trip ) and a trip to norway and finland and....

    The the issue: a fellow rider just bought a -94 K11LT with 90000 km on the speedo.
    All in great condition but as he's about 190 cm he need a hight windscreen and the windscreen engine are gone.
    Where to find these parts.

    PS. before the K11LT I use to ride a -76R100RS / Krausser 4V, that are now restiing i my garage to be ridden localy only sunny days. I's been a companion for appr. 300.000km.

  • Nice post tibbe and a big welcome to the Forum. I would suggest you look up the website of Motorworks in the UK...they have most things at reasonable prices.
    I'm certain that you will get many more great tips from other Forum members.
    Have a good summer! OoB

  • Sven-Erik, you could get in touch with our fellow user RoyRogers, he is from Norway, (might be not to far from you, if you are lucky, look him up on the usermap!). He makles trips to Germany a couple of times each year and has a nice store of parts, and also has got good connetions for used parts. Maybe he can supply you parts or give you a hint.

  • Hi
    Thank you for your welcome and tips.
    And the tips of RoyRogers seems to be an interesting rider and wrencher, not so close from here but sometimes I use to put some km on the speedo and most rods runs to the south exept those to norway and lofoten and RV17 between Bodoe and Mo ;)

    I was a member of the old forum.flyingbrick and currently on the <!-- w --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.k11og.org" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.k11og.org</a><!-- w --> forum, <!-- w --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.europrez.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.europrez.com</a><!-- w --> and <!-- w --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.bmwklubben.se" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.bmwklubben.se</a><!-- w -->.

    Time for a bit of work and lunch and looking up your tips.

    PS. to OoB: there was a beemer rider in RSA how ended his time on bike a couple of months ago, big meeting of BMW riders at he's last trip. He's widow are coming to europe in summer to attend the <!-- w --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.europrez.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.europrez.com</a><!-- w --> meeting. Was he a friend of you?

  • Hi
    Ordered 17" windsreen from motoworks and renowated the winscreen engine.

    Took the engine apart, cleaned, lubricated, adjusted, assembled and tested.
    Only trick was to clamp the rotor in a wise and then tap out the gear housing.
    And aslo the trick with using a thin flexible wire to hold back the collector coal while assembling the engine.
    Runs as new ( nearly ) now.
    Time 1-2 hours on a working bench with good light....and patient.

    The bike are nearly perfect now, just syncronizing and changing some airpipes on the inlet left.
    Today was the biker season opening day up here in north: <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://picasaweb.google.se/luletibbe/Lulea_may_2010#" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://picasaweb.google.se/luletibbe/Lulea_may_2010#</a><!-- m -->
    no risk for overheating, 1-2C+ and rain. Still 94 bikers showed up for the 280 km trip.

    For me: bicyckel another 1.5 mounts :heul: after a medical accident in Andernach/Koblenz last december ( stroke by driving car ).
    On the positive side I'm getting in a better shape for the summer trips/adventures on the beemer by more exercise :D
