Fried K11RS chassi number year?

  • Hi
    Got a burned down K11 with chassi number "BMW logo" 11196628 "BMW logo" K1100RS, probably the compleate number.
    According to some mark on the crankcase and more it could have been a K11RS from -93.

    Where to find the year of production.

    Have tried <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.bmw-z1.com/VIN/VINdecode-e.cgi" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.bmw-z1.com/VIN/VINdecode-e.cgi</a><!-- m --> but it came out with a 4 wheeled BMW.

    PS: The drivetrain, break calipers, rims and fork seems fairly undamage, the rest are melted down or gone. Camchain follower and tension plate are melted too.

  • Hello Tibbe.

    BMW chassis number is 7 digit. So you have one digit more.
    But if we read first two digits "11" as one "0" I see following:
    K1100RS, produced 20.02.1993, color Seidenblau metallic 690.
    Also it has (or had :( ) options: luggage grid, case holders and was made for Sweden!

    Regards,
    Viktor.

  • Oh so easy.
    Just replacing "11" with "0" :D .
    Many thanks victor_rus.

    BTW. how did you found out that it was delivered Seidenblau metallic 690.
    with luggage grid, case holders and was made for Sweden?

  • Hi Tibbe,

    it seems that you did not wrote the exact VIN when trying the japanese website.

    If you enter 0196628 at <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.bmw-z1.com/VIN/VINdecode-e.cgi" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.bmw-z1.com/VIN/VINdecode-e.cgi</a><!-- m --> you'll see your K1100RS. Nevertheless, they do not display the painting or any details. Realoem displays the same: <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.realoem.com/bmw/select.do?vin=0196628" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.realoem.com/bmw/select.do?vin=0196628</a><!-- m -->, and even BMW itself just shows year and month of production: <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.bmwarchiv.de/vin/bmw-vin-decoder.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.bmwarchiv.de/vin/bmw-vin-decoder.html</a><!-- m -->.
