Output shaft seal instalation

Hi there.
Regarding the subject, manual (Haynes) indicates to set the seal flush with the housing, but service bulletin 2798 indicates to let it projecting 0.5mm out in order to ensure a perfect seal.
I´ll appreciate your opinion on this issue.

Jap, I would venture to guess that Haynes, Clymers and others didn't have the benefit of issued SB's for inclusion in the books.
I would install per the SB.

When I removed the clutch assy from my '95 the seal was flush and not leaking.
I replaced it anyway as I was there and it was 15yrs old. I did install per the SB and leave it project out .5-.6mm
