RT windscreen effectiveness in warmer weather

  • Is it just me or when the air thins does the windscreen get louder with more turbulence? I'm 5'10" and I wish it was either a little higher, or a little more effective. Has anyone with an early K100RT fairing cut holes in or have they remounted the windscreen somehow to improve this?

  • I have thought about cutting a hole in mine. You can see that the later models and a lot of other bikes have holes. My Honda has a Windjammer with the little vents and although the fairing with screen looks bigger, there is less noise. I'll test it this summer with an old screen. Sorry, no direct answer, but it seems the right thing to do. If in doubt, fit a hole the size of a Vetter vent so you can fit one and close it off when you want.

    Cheers, René

    Here is the solution:

Scroll down the page and have a look at the windshield with the 5-position vent built in. See, someone still loves on old RT's!

  • That's what I'm talking about. Hopefully I can buy such a vent at the local m/c accessories shop, and hopefully this design will work with the standard windscreen. Hopefully I can cut a hole in it.

    I'm hopeful :P
